Day 1


The 4th Africa Carbon Forum has opened in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, with a call on African countries to use as clean technologies as possible when industrialising. This call came from Ethiopia’s environmental protection authority during the official opening of the forum.

The CDM Loan Scheme was officially launched at the opening of the 4th African Carbon Forum in Ethiopian Capital, Addis Ababa.
Starting today, potential projects in Africa can apply for interest free loans from the CDM Loan Scheme. The money is to help with development of PDD, validation, registration and verification costs of these projects.

Day 2

Discussions on the future of Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) in Africa takes centre stage at the ongoing 4th African Carbon Forum in Ethiopian as delegates push for a common strategy to strongly position the continent on the global carbon market.

Africa continues to stay far behind in registering CDM projects which offer developing countries financial incentives to cut greenhouse gas emissions. UNFCCC has registered nearly 4000 CDM projects from all over the world, of which only 84 of them are in Africa.

Information regarding what Clean Development Mechanism has done for Africa has been the focus of discussions and presentations during the second day of the African Carbon Forum taking place in Ethiopia.

Day 3

The fourth African Carbon Forum has come to a close with the hope of building capacity among African countries in order to allow the benefit fully from the carbon market.

The forum which was held in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, attracted around eight hundred participants from eighty four different countries of which thirty four are African countries.
